Well that is weird, but that is how I feel. I am no longer a mother and I have not celebrated mothers day. I do not know why. It does not seem to matter to me and I am unsure why my emotions are so confused about the fact that my mother is no longer here. I am not angry, I am not sad, and I am not angry at my mother.
I feel like I have been trying to find some sort of closure with my mother. I have never told her I’m sorry for hurting her, but I have made her a promise that, in return, she would send me a letter to tell me where and when her birthday is, so that I can know that she is still alive and that I will always be there to celebrate her with her and our child.
While you might think that if you have a close relationship with someone you don’t know, or that you have never seen them alive before, that you would be able to know when it is their birthday, that simply isn’t the case. Most people who don’t know their parents don’t celebrate their birthdays. The only time we celebrate them is when they die.
The closest we get to celebrating our moms is when they pass away, but it is not usually because we are able to get up and celebrate. It is usually because they are deceased and we want them to be remembered by their friends and loved ones. I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but if your parents passed away, it is still important that you be able to celebrate them, and if they were alive then by all means celebrate them.
But, like many other things, mothers day is also about the death, not the life.
For mothers, it is the time for family and friends to tell the person they love how much they love them. It is not just the time to celebrate the passing of a life.
